Dr. Mahendra Singh Rana holds B Tech in Aeronautical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, M Tech in Engineering Systems & management, Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Business Management, making him an erudite professional with 30 years of insightful experience in the areas of Academics, General Administration, Technical, Teaching and Instructional Administration in the field Education, Corporate and Defense sectors.
His quest of learning and serving the Nation led him to join Country’s one of the most ambitious and prestigious organizations- The Indian Air Force, where he did several courses on frontal areas of technology such as Engineer’s Course on IL-76 aircraft of Russia, Seniors Commander’s Course in Coimbatore, Flight Engineer’s Course, Maintenance Conversion Flight on Chetak/ Cheetah Helicopters, making himself a fine trainer and a guide to lead the path of technological advances in frontal areas of science and technology.
He is a Six Sigma Qualified professional who trained the finest officers from Mechanical Engineering and orienting them towards their engineering duties in IAF. He served as a Squadron Commander in Mechanical Training Institute, for two years imparting teaching & instructional training on various aircraft systems concerning mechanical branch, including IL-76 Heavy Transport aircraft. His responsibilities included efficient conduct of technical training to pilots, navigators, engineers & technicians of all trades with full complement of teaching staff.
Apart from serving the Indian Air Force for over 28 years, Dr Rana’s quest to learn led him to Netherlands, where he learnt industrial operations in a food production factory and did Controlled Atmosphere Course conducted by Mr. Selles from FCE Italy. To add to his credit in the field of imparting training / teaching, he led a contingent of highly qualified Instructors on Russian MI-17 helicopter to Kabul (Afghanistan), as Chief Instructor and imparted training to Afghan Officers on MI-17 helicopter. He led the corporate sector in the capacity of a General Manager and has led various technical and engineering institutions as Director in the past 5 years. During his tenure as Director, one of the Engineering Colleges was adjudged as the best upcoming Engineering College in Delhi/NCR.
Dr Rana holds many distinctions and he stood first in the entire batch of 58 trainee technical officers and was adjudged “best all rounder officer of the course”, at the Air Force Technical College, Bangalore, for which Chief of Air Staff Medal was awarded to him.
