BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FORESTRY

The Bachelor of Science in Forestry is abbreviated as B.Sc. Forestry. It is an undergraduate professional degree programme. Forestry is the science and craft of creating, managing, using, conserving, and repairing forests and associated resources, in a sustainable manner, to meet desired goals, needs, and values for human benefit. Forestry is practiced in plantations and natural stands.

The challenge of forestry is to create systems that are socially accepted while sustaining the resource and any other resources that might be affected. The forest science has elements that belong to the biological, physical, social, political and managerial sciences. The candidate must have cleared senior secondary education from a recognized board. Bachelor of Science in Forestry is a 4 year-long course divided into 8 semesters.

The course is designed to help students understand the modules of forestry, the environment etc. Forestry education typically includes training in general biology, botany, genetics, soil science, climatology, hydrology, economics and forest management. The main aim of this program is to train students to become Forestry professionals. B.Sc. forestry opens a sea of opportunities for the candidates. From a Forest officer under government sector to plantation and resort manager, forest product marketing, forest products purchasing manager in the private sector, there are various options present for the students.   • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern technology and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex forestry activities with an understanding of the limitations.
